Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:
1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.
No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.
But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?
Review: PLEASE BE AWARE – SPOILERS AHEAD!!
This book was… unexpectedly good. And this review contains spoilers.
I loved the plot, I loved the characters with questionable moral. The main female character was a real breath of fresh air. Alessandra was real wicked, a woman sexually empowered, self-aware and ambitious. She is nothing you have encountered before in a YA and it’s the main reason why I loved her! I liked King of Shadows/Kallias as well. He is simply a ruthless king!

I mean, she is a murderer and he killed the Robin Hood of this world. That’s simply brilliant!!
I also loved that at the end of the story, there was no redemption crap. Alessandra’s father was simply awful to her and it was so good to see that she cut him off out of her life and no forgiveness stuff. Kallias, he will keep taxing his people and conquer other reigns.
Alessandra and Kallias are two evil people, they don’t care and they deserve their own happy ending.

Also, this is a stand-alone and kudos to the writer for that! We have too many series around.
